Magic Formally Offer SVG Job, Donovan Mess Clear, Riley and Heat Step Up To Fill 'Asshole' Role

The Magic have formally offered Stan Van Gundy the head coaching position. This comes on the heels of the reports that last night the lawyers had reached a settlement in principle to toss Donovan out of the position. All of this funky stuff was thrown in, such as a 5 year ban on Billy Donovan coaching in the NBA, which apparently was agreed upon. This is a good move as it saves a tiny bit of face for the Magic while ensuring that Billy D doesn't run off and coach the Heat in a year or two.

Wait, did I just refer to the Heat? As soon as the Magic said, "Thank GOD this Donovan crap is done. We finally have rid ourselves from dealing with jerks", Pat Riley popped his weathered Keith Richards-look-alike face in and said "Not so quick. You're forgetting who is head jerk around here." Apparently the word is that the Miami Heat want compensation for SVG, since he is still under contract. Pat Riley playfully figures in this scenario, "I've already ripped a head coaching position and an NBA title away from Stan Van Gundy...why not prevent him from getting another head coaching job too?!"

If the Magic do indeed get Stan Van Gundy, and I am praying they do, we officially have our villain. Riley is looking more and more like Pacino in the Devil's Advocate:
On top of all of this garbage the Magic are sifting through, the Sentinel reports that "(SVG) set a tentative deadline for today to take one of the jobs." Sure 'tentative' is a big word, but it still says that he is through waiting and if the Magic make him wait any longer he could hop on the first plane to Sac-town.

On a side note, 'Sac-town' sounds like a land of people with enormous testicles.

Stan has communicated time and time again that we are his first choice so I have a feeling that if he is ushered in as our next head coach he will be welcomed with open arms. After all, if that were to happen he would have wanted to coach us so bad that he turned down another team to do so. -A far cry from Billy Donovan and his priorities.

Hopefully the decision comes today on Stan. I am going to be out of the office today so I might not get word on the day's proceedings until later, but if anything big happens you can bet I will be right there reporting on it.

Big day for the Magic. Hopefully we get our guy before the clock expires. Fingernail biting time, folks.
